(Detroit, MI) -- A new poll shows Michigan residents want a crackdown on immigration similar to what's been passed in Arizona. The survey by EPIC/MRA for the "Detroit Free Press" and WXYZ-TV shows two-thirds of people in the state want a law requiring police to ask for legal proof if someone is in the country legally. Arizona's law, known as SB 1070, is facing legal challenges from the federal government over whose authority it is to enforce federal immigration laws. State Representative Kim Meltzer of Macomb Township has put forward legislation in Lansing to mirror what Arizona has done.
