WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will go ahead with a meeting with the Dalai Lama on Thursday, the White House said on Friday, despite China's call for the planned talks to be scrapped.

"The meeting will take place as planned next Thursday," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. The Obama administration on Thursday set a date for the president's White House meeting with the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the latest source of friction in strained Sino-U.S. relations.
