Elkhart Lake, Wis. (WHBL) - An Elkhart Lake man who was primarily responsible for the arrest of the man who robbed the National Exchange Bank in Elkhart Lake on April First will be honored by the Elkhart Lake Village Board tonight. Gary Markevitch had spotted a black Chrysler in the area of the bank several times the day before the robbery and captured it on video which he turned over to investigators. As a result, Elkhart Lake Police and the FBI were able to track down 45 year old Jeffrey McCord of West Bend who was arrested near his home several weeks after the robbery. Tonight, Markevitch will be presented with a Citizen Award of Merit and will pick up $2500 in cash reward from the Bankers Association.
