GRESHAM, Wis (WSAU) After a week of temperatures in the 60s, the ice is thin on many area lakes. A man broke through and fell into Upper Red Lake in Gresham yesterday.

Kenneth Beyer was rescued by a neighbor who heard him call for help. The rescuer grabbed a long piece of PVC pipe, and was able to pull him to safety. The Shawano County dive and rescue team was called to the scene. They examined Beyer once he was onshore, and determined that he didn't need additional medical assistance.
