MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - It’s back to school for Wisconsin barbers, hair stylists, manicurists, and other personal care providers. The state’s licensing agency has ordered them to have 6 hours of continuing education, after inspectors found poor compliance with sanitation and safety rules.

About 50,000 stylists will take a day-long course that shows the proper ways of disinfecting items that touch clients – removing old hair frequently – and keeping poisonous items at a distance. Employees can get the training at one-day sessions in August in Milwaukee and October in Madison. Technical colleges and product suppliers will also hold the required sessions.
