LANSING (WHTC) - The budget ball in Lansing is now in the Legislature’s court. Governor Rick Snyder trotted out his proposed 48.2 billion-dollar spending plan for fiscal 2013 before a joint legislative committee this morning. More than 75 percent is devoted to education, health and human services. The most controversial aspect of the financial blueprint may be an overhaul of the state’s gas tax system and a substantial hike in vehicle registration fees in order to pay for a requested 119 million dollars in what the Governor called needed road infrastructure work statewide. Three of the Lakeshore’s state legislative delegation – Joe Haveman, Bob Genetski and Dave Agema – were among members of the House Appropriations Committee that were on hand to hear the remarks from Mr. Snyder, along with Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley and state Budget Director John Nixon.
