UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two non-profits in West Michigan are in line for grants announced on Wednesday.
The Wells Fargo Foundation has awarded Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity with a $15,000 grant that will be used to build an affordable home in Hamilton for a single mother with four children. The money from an overall $8.1 million donation by the foundation’s “Wells Fargo Builds” program to Habitat for Humanity International goes for capacity building and direct mission support for building, renovating and repairing over 350 affordable homes nationwide.
Meanwhile, Pella Corporation tapped Kids’ Food Basket to receive a $50,000 grant as the winner of the Iowa-based window and door designer and manufacturer’s “Hope at Work” contest. The Grand Rapids non-profit that provides meals to needy children in a four-county region, which includes both Allegan and Ottawa counties, won the contest by collecting over 15,000 votes in an online election. Kids’ Food Basket officials say that the money will help offset a 66% increase in meal costs since the COVID 19 outbreak in March.
