Terry Foss, 78, of Irons, formerly of Holland, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Terry was born January 12, 1942, in Holland, Michigan, to Chester and Adeline (Vander Wolde) Foss. Terry attended Holland High School. Terry served on the Ottawa County Sheriff Department for 25 years before his retirement. He married Arlene Kooiker and they raised their children in Holland and were members of Harlem Reformed Church. Terry and Arlene moved to Irons, Michigan, after retiring and attend Faith Fellowship Church.
Terry was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time outdoors. His primary hobby was firearms. For several years he attended many gun shows and exhibitions, and was continually working on firearm projects.
Terry is survived by his wife Arlene, son Rick Foss of Holland, daughter Brenda and Mark Zimonich of Zeeland, son Bruce Foss of Holland; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Crystal and Heath Flanery (Liam), Kate Solomon (Kinsey), Samantha Foss, Melissa Johnson (Shawn, Paige), Justen Medendorp, Jessica Medendorp; brother Rex and Shirley Foss, sister-in-law Ruth Kooiker, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Harlem Reformed Church, 6854 144th Ave., Holland MI 49424. Visiting hours will be 4:30-7:00 pm, Friday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Private interment will be in Olive Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
