HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a two car injury crash at I-196 at Homestead at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020 in Zeeland.
Police learned a 36-year-old Holland man, driving a 2008 Ford truck, went through the intersection of I-196 at Homestead, colliding with a 2007 Honda CRV, with a 16-year-old Holland girl at the wheel.
The driver of the truck told police he drove though the intersection under a yellow light.
The Holland teen told police she had waited at the red light on eastbound I-196, and started through the intersection when the light turned green.
The driver of the truck went by ambulance hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Holland teen and her passenger, a 15-year-old Holland boy, were treated at the scene and released.
It’s unclear if either driver got ticketed for the crash.
