HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Firefighters were called to Cutting Edge Excavating, 5182 Chicago Drive in Zeeland Township Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, on the report of a fire. Traffic eastbound on Chicago Drive had to be re-routed between 48th and 56th avenues, according to Ottawa County Central Dispatch.
According to police-scanner chatter, multiple fire agencies are responded to the blaze just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael VanDenBosch said responding units, which included Sheriff’s deputies, found heavy smoke and fire coming from the building.
Zeeland Township is getting mutual aid from City of Zeeland, Blendon, Olive, Overisel, Park Township, and Hudsonville firefighters. Multiple water tankers were brought to the scenes, and fire officials remained on the scene for several hours, investigation continued into the fire’s cause.
