Jack Geerlings, 71, of Zeeland, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
Jack was born May 17, 1949, in Zeeland, to Henry and Gertrude (Dozeman) Geerlings. He started working on the family farm/hatchery and made it his life’s work at Townline Hatchery. Jack married his high school sweetheart Marcia Riemersma in 1970. Brothers Jack, Dick, and Don were the third generation of Geerlings to run Townline Hatchery making the way for the fourth generation.
Jack adored his family and especially his grandchildren. He took great pains to guide them in deer hunting, or being “grandpa taxi”. Jack could be found working the chains on many Thursday and Friday nights at Zeeland West Dux football games. Nearly every day you could find Jack having breakfast with his friends at Frank’s. He was the speed coach for the Zeeland West Equestrian Team. Jack was proud to be a National Guardsman for many years serving his country. He was a member of Community Reformed Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marcia, their children and grandchildren: John and Marie (Justin, Zach, Cody), Bill and Julie (Brandon, Megan), Jeff and Kristin (Brooklyn, Cole, Luke), Jessica Geerlings (Nazzaré); his siblings: Rose Weaver, Dick and Nancy Geerlings, Don and Gloria Geerlings, Steve and Dawn Geerlings; in-laws: Ron and Jane Riemersma, Merry and Allen Brummel, Brian and Diane Riemersma, and many extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 8, 2021, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Visitation will be 12:00-1:30 pm, Monday, prior to the funeral service at Community. Interment will be in Borculo Cemetery.
