Melody Freckman, 67, died on February 27, 2021, from complications of Multiple Myeloma.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Bill Freckman, of 45 years. Together they raised 3 children, Eric, Melissa, and Brian, in the beautiful city of Holland, Ml. It was their joy and privilege during those years to serve in various capacities at Immanuel Church.
Melody was born to Reverend Gerald and Thelma Tuinstra in Grand Rapids, Ml. Raised in the Chicago area, she graduated from Harold L. Richards High School in 1971 and Evangelical School of Nursing in 1974. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, St. John Hospital in Detroit, Ml, and Holland Hospital in Holland, Ml. In later years she enjoyed her time working at Teerman’s Hallmark in Holland, Ml.
Raising a family brought her great joy, but becoming Grandma was the best! She had many friends and loved sitting and chatting with them. She loved studying the Bible and was enrolled in Bible Study Fellowship for 10 years. Most recently the books on Heaven by Randy Alcorn and Erwin Lutzer brought her great comfort.
She is survived by her husband Bill of Holland, Ml, son Eric (Jen) of Inverness, IL, daughter Melissa (Brian) of Holland, Ml, and son Brian of South Bend, IN. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Olivia, Maggie, Josiah, Samantha, Cade, Tate, Kaylee; brothers Roger (Ruth) Tuinstra of Bangor, Ml, Wes Tuinstra of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and nephews. Melody was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister, Nancy Ann Tuinstra.
