ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Four persons were wounded in a shooting at an Allendale apartment complex overnight (Apr. 10, 2021).
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Captain Mark Bennett, deputies and first responders were dispatched to the Enclave Apartments off of Becker Drive shortly after 12 Midnight on a report of shots fired. “Upon arrival, deputies found three victims outside an apartment,” Bennett said in a department statement. “All three had suffered gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to (an unnamed) Grand Rapids hospital by Life EMS. A fourth gunshot victim had left the scene prior to (the) deputies arrival, and that victim (came to an unnamed) Grand Rapids hospital for treatment.
“One of the victims received critical injuries and is in surgery at this time (4 AM Saturday Apr. 10). The other three victims are said to be in stable condition at this time.”
No suspects were immediately arrested, but Bennett did provide a description of a suspect: “A Hispanic male, six feet tall, weighing about 225 pounds, (wearing) a white shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap.”
Although none of the victims were identified as students at nearby Grand Valley State University, the school’s police assisted Sheriff’s deputies at the scene of the incident, and a campus safety alert was issued as a precaution.
