HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 22-year-old Holland man was rushed to Spectrum Health after a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott, in an email to media, noted the man had not been wearing a seatbelt when his 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed on I-196 near 48th Avenue in Jamestown Township. He was ejected from the Jeep, Knott said. No one else was in the vehicle, according to police
The Holland man had been driving west when the Jeep drifted off the road near the 48th Avenue overpass, hitting a guardrail and flipping over it and ejecting the driver. The Jeep landed upside down and caught fire.
He went by Life EMS to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. The crash remains under investigation.
