HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a suspicious incident involving a child and a stranger.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeremy Baum sent a statement to media indicating a 12-year-old boy, who told authorities he’d been walking north along 12th Avenue near Port Sheldon Street just after 8:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, when a vehicle approached him.
The boy told police it looked like a white Ford sedan, possibly made in the 2000s, with a light window tint and minor rust, according to Baum, who noted the boy did not recall the license plate information. The car had been headed south on 12th Avenue with a white male at the wheel. He appeared to be in his late 40s, with short brown hair and a short brown beard, according to Baum’s news release.
While the boy was never threatened or harmed, police are asking anyone with any information related to this incident to contact Sheriff’s Office or Silent Observer toll-free at (877) 88-SILENT (877-887-4536) or visit mosotips.com to share information anonymously.
