HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A beach-hazards statement is in effect through late tonight, Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, for Ottawa, Muskegon, Mason and Oceana counties, according to the National Weather Service meteorologists based in Grand Rapids.
High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions are anticipated, meaning piers may be heavily swamped by
waves.
Swimmers can be pulled into deeper water by strong currents. The south sides of south piers will be most
dangerous at places like Grand Haven State Park and Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon.
People visiting the Lakeshore beaches are asked to stay out of the water and off the piers.
Spotters may be needed as storms are predicted to roll through West Michigan Monday through Thursday. Learn more at weather.gov/grr.
