GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 22, 2022) – The threat of flooding along the Grand River in Ottawa County continues.
The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids overnight maintained a Flood Watch for the length of the river in the county through 4 PM this afternoon. This is due to ice jams that have moved to the Connor Bayou area east of Grand Haven, causing flooding in parts of Robinson Township. Even though temperatures are predicted to be in the 40’s again for today, forecasters don’t expect these jams to dissipate until later this week, warning that this could lead to additional flooding in some areas that typically don’t have flooding problems.
In the Weather Service’s daily Hazardous Weather Outlook for Tuesday, a winter storm system may bring accumulating snowfall to portions of Lower Michigan between Thursday night and Friday, with impacts on vehicular travel possible.
