GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 14, 2022) – A two-vehicle crash south of Jenison on Tuesday afternoon led to a Grand Rapids woman and two children injured and power lines down.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and first responders were dispatched to Kenowa Avenue at 44th Street around 4:50 PM. That was where the woman, driving a southbound sedan, was hit by a pickup truck that apparently ran a red light. The force of the collision caused the pickup to careen into a utility pole, bringing down power lines across the intersection and onto the vehicle.
The 35-year-old woman and the young boys, aged 11 and 7, “complained of pain,” according to Hallmeyer, and were treated at the scene. The pickup driver, a 52-year-old Grandville man, was not hurt.
The crash caused a partial shutdown of one of the area’s busiest intersections while Consumers Energy crews repaired the damage and restored power. The matter remains under investigation.
