SPRING LAKE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 13, 2022) – An 82-year-old Spring Lake man has lost his life from injuries sustained in a crash near his hometown late last week.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department announced on Monday that Donald Ott succumbed at an undisclosed hospital. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Jacob MacKeller, the motorist, driving a sedan westbound on Taft Street around 1 PM on Friday, apparently drove through a stop sign at 168th Avenue and into the path of a southbound sedan. A 29-year-old Spring Lake woman and a 20-year-old Spring Lake man in that southbound sedan were also hospitalized with less serious ailments, while a 20-month-old boy in a child seat in the southbound sedan was not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
