OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 15, 2022) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department is looking for five persons for questioning in the burglary of a residence near a house of worship in West Olive on Thursday morning.
According to Detective Captain Jake Sparks, the trio broke into a house in the 5500 block of 112th Avenue sometime between 8 AM and 8:30 AM. The monks of the Lao Buddhist Temple at the site were elsewhere when the crime occurred. Cash and religious artifacts worth more than $50,000 were taken, with no injuries reported. The temple itself was not entered.
“Detectives are investigating and reviewing surveillance video taken of the crime,” Sparks said in a department statement. “At this point, it is believed that two female and one male suspect entered the residence while their accomplices remained outside with the suspect vehicle.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
