HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 16, 2022) – Tax abatements and a Brownfield proposal highlight the Wednesday evening biweekly Holland City Council meeting.
Public hearings are slated before the governing panel votes on separate abatement proposals. Power Manufacturing, who builds stamped and machined metal products wants to nearly double its current 37 thousand-plus square foot building off of Russel Court, with a subsequent addition of six full-time employees within two years of the expansion’s completion. Meanwhile, KNITit wants to set up a 3-D knit operation for creating fashionable goods on property off of Veterans Drive, and looks to use nearly two thirds of a 94 hundred square foot building for such a purpose, with three full-time hires expected.
In addition, Council is asked to approve a Brownfield Plan for land off of West 36th Street and Washington Avenue so that Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity, in conjunction with Jubliee Ministries, can redevelop the eight-acre site for a new residential neighborhood. Four two-bedroom and 20 three-bedroom townhomes, in units of two and three connected structures, along with 18 three-bedroom single-family homes. These houses would be for those earning between 30 and 120 percent of this area’s median income.
The Holland City Council meets at 6 PM in Chambers at Holland City Hall.
