Gordon Dams, age 96, of Holland, met his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Gord was a charter member of Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church. He is a WWII veteran who proudly served our country in the Air Force. In 1953, he started Short Cut Garage and owned it until 1979, when at the age of 53, he sold it and retired. During retirement, he traveled all over the United States and Canada, except for Hawaii. He then worked for the next 13 years at the Careerline Tech Center as a ParaPRO in the automotive department. When Gord completely retired, he spent all of his time fishing and helping at his son-in-law’s farm.
Gord was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Joan Dams, who passed in 2020; and by his son-in-law, Bob Lipinski, who passed in 2001.
He is survived by his children: Kathy (Don) Boersen, Pat (Tom) VanderLaan, Doug (Robin) Dams, and Barb Lipinski; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Shirley) Dams; and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation with the family will take place from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland.
