HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 8, 2023) – A report of a rifle possibly being used in downtown Holland would have Publc Safety Police Services officers on full alert any time of the year, but when it happens during the Tulip City’s annual signature event, those alerts are even heightened.
According to Captain Bob Buursma, officers were dispatched around 1 PM on Monday to a report of a man in possession of a rifle in the downtown district, although Buursma did not specify where exactly this man was at. Those responding officers were able to track down the man at his home on Holland’s North Side and spoke to that 57-year-old subject.
“The initial investigation indicates the suspect did not threaten anyone, nor were any shots fired. The investigative report, including all witnesses’ statements, and the statements of the suspect, will be sent to the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney’s office to review for any potential charges.” – Holland Police Services Captain Bob Buursma.
The case remains open, and anyone with any information on the matter is asked to contact the Holland Department of Public Safety (616-355-1150) or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
