Lois Jeanne Williams, 87, passed away surrounded by family on July 24, 2023. Lois was born October 8, 1936, in Livonia, Michigan to George and Katherine Meier. Lois graduated from Bentley High School in 1954 and attended two years at Kalamazoo College. On September 6, 1957, she married Thomas Williams. She and Tom moved to Holland in 1964, where they raised four children.
She worked for FMB and later Huntington Bank, retiring from there in 1998. She and Tom enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and made many trips to northern Michigan. In the wintertime, they enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean. Many trips were also made with good friends to Las Vegas and local casinos – with the biggest winner buying dinner on the way home. Lois loved spending time with her family and friends. She was “mom” to many of her children’s friends; always welcoming them into her home. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves behind long time friend and companion Darrel Middlewood, who she reconnected with in 2015; sister, Judy Parks of Okemos; children Beth Edmonds (Daniel), Dave Williams (Kendra), Lynda DeCan (Ken) of Holland, and Tim Williams (Becky) of Flagstaff, AZ. In addition, she leaves behind grandchildren Joshua, Bailey (Perry), Avery (David), Sutton (Erika), Zack (Morgan), Harrison, Savannah, Delanie and Jessica, step grandchildren Bayley, Juliet, and Brady (Maru). She also leaves behind great grandchildren Payton, Brooklyn, Andie, Beckett, Jonah, Theo and Eila as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death are parents George and Katherine Meier, husband Tom, granddaughter Jennifer, brother-in-laws Cleo Parks & Richard Williams, sister-in-law Janice Anderson and Lois’ faithful furry companion, Ellie.
A time to greet the family will be Monday August 14, 2023 from 5 to 7pm at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. in Holland. Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday August 15, also at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Holland.
