Christen “Chris” Baarman, age 88, of Zeeland, passed away on Wednesday, December 06, 2023.
Chris lived a life guided by his strong faith and unwavering kindness. He dedicated himself to serving his community and was actively involved in his church, where he served as an elder and a dedicated Sunday school teacher. Chris was a true example of compassion, always lending a helping hand to his neighbors, especially when it came to repairing sprinklers – a task he took great pride in.
A natural salesman with an infectious personality, Chris’s endless connections spanned far and wide. His genuine care for others extended beyond business relationships, forming lifelong friendships with his clients whom he always looked out for.
Chris’s army service showcased his unwavering dedication and talent. His passion for photography led to numerous accolades and even an offer to work with Life magazine, which he declined, choosing instead to remain close to his family and the community he cherished.
Chris is survived by his wife, Pat Baarman; children: Craig (Deb) Baarman, Kim (Keith) Smith, David (Erica) Baarman; stepson: Scott Diekema; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; siblings: Jerry (Kathy) Baarman, Nancy Kollenbrander; as well as many extended family.
Chris was preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline (Van Dorple) Baarman in 2018.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Family Church, Grace Campus, 9530 Woodbridge St. Zeeland, MI 49464. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Visitation with the Baarman family will be from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, December 8, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State St. Zeeland, MI 49464.
