LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 15, 2023) – Joseph Alfonso still has aspirations for Capitol Hill, but he may continue to have some state responsibilities to perform soon.
On Thursday, Governor Whitmer’s office announced that the office specialist for the City of Kentwood from Holland has been recommended for reappointment to the State Plumbing Board. The retired US Marine non-commissioned officer announced this past spring his intention to run again for the 4th US House seat in the 2024 election. Running unopposed for the Democratic Party nomination, Alfonso lost by over 40 thousand votes to seven-term Republican incumbent Bill Huizenga of Zeeland 13 months ago.
The State Plumbing Board makes recommendations for plumbing code rules, licenses plumbers, and handles orders, rules and regulations necessary for enforcing state laws concerning this profession. The appointment of Alfonso to a nearly three-year term, through July 30th of 2026, is subject to state Senate approval.
