HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 16, 2024) – No injuries were reported following an overnight house fire in Holland on Saturday.
According to Department of Public Safety Captain of Fire Operations Chris Tinney, crews were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Concord Drive, in the vicinity of West 26th Avenue and Graafschap Road, at 4:37 AM. They found that a motor home parked on the property was ablaze, and the flames spread onto the adjacent house and into both the attic and basement, protracting efforts for bringing the fire under control through most of the rest of the morning hours.
It was learned that an alert family dog was able to alert the residents inside of the blaze, although smoke alarms inside of the residence did sound as the flames spread. Those residents had already fled the structure safely by the time firefighters arrived, and no crew members were injured during the course of bringing the blaze under control.
While a dollar amount of estimated damage wasn’t immediately determined, Tinney said that the motor home and the residence are a total loss. No cause for the fire was also initially determined, as Fire Marshal Bret Groendyke has begun an investigation.
