HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 15, 2024) – If one sees first responders and others at the Farmstead off of East 24th Street on Wednesday morning, appearing is if they are dealing with an emergency, city of Holland officials say that there is no danger being addressed there.
A joint 9 AM effort with Fire Operations crews from the Holland Department of Public Safety, along with Resthaven, Tri-County Fire Inspectors and EV Construction staffers, will go over what they would do if a blaze broke out inside of the newly-constructed, independent living facility. This proactive exercise looks at preparedness for, and response action during, an actual emergency, with a functional, simulated exercise. Following a debriefing, Resthaven staffers will be able to finalize an effective emergency response plan for that facility.
The 40-acre Farmstead campus near Van Raalte Farm, with 80 apartments and 24 cottages for independent living, along with 24 assisted living apartments, is set to open this summer.
