OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 31, 2024) โ A 48-year-old Grand Haven man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in West Olive on Friday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriffโs Sergeant Matt Wildfong, the motorist was driving his vehicle northbound on 112th Avenue around 2:45 PM when he apparently drove through a stop sign at Stanton Street, colliding with an eastbound vehicle, and causing it to roll over into a nearby yard.
A 20-year-old man driving that eastbound vehicle, along with a 24-year-old female passenger, both from Hudsonville, were able to crawl out, and they were taken to an undisclosed hospital in stable condition for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
However, the Grand Haven man was pinned inside of his vehicle, and after being extricated by rescue workers, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ottawa County Medical Examinerโs Office. His name was not immediately disclosed pending notification of family members.
No other circumstances surrounding the crash were disclosed by Wildfong, as an investigation into the matter continues.
