A pair of Coles from Hope College have claimed MIAA Athlete of the Week honors.
Senior linebacker Cole Luhmann is the MIAA Football Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time, while senior center back Cole Pauly is the MIAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career.
Luhmann (Rochester, Michigan / Stoney Creek HS) was selected after helping the nationally-ranked Flying Dutchmen record a 45-0 shutout against Adrian College on Saturday at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.
The mathematics major totaled 10 tackles, including one solo and one tackle for loss.
Luhmann contributed a fumble recovery during Hope’s second shutout of the season. The Flying Dutchmen last accomplished the feat in 2017.
Pauly (Mundelein, Illinois / Mundelein) was recognized for the first time this season after anchoring Hope’s shutouts of Alma College and Adrian College last week.
The business major played all 180 combined minutes of a 5-0 victory at Alma College on Wednesday and 5-0 victory vs. Adrian College on Saturday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Pauly also chipped in one goal and one assist against Adrian.
