GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 6, 2024) – A 30-year-old Grand Rapids man has been charged in an alleged home improvement scam that goes back more than a year and perhaps beyond Ottawa County.
According to Sheriff’s Captain of Investigative Services Jake Sparks, the investigation into the actions of Wesley Pawloski began in July of 2023, when an unnamed county resident reported paying a firm called Blackstone Partners for construction work that was never completed. Several sub-contractors had also provided services for this firm but never received full payment. Pawloski was identified as the owner of the business, and was initially charged with three felony counts of contractor fraud a month later.
Apparently out on bond, Pawloski then purportedly started up another business, Designed Construction, and allegedly went back to doing some of the same practices as before. In all, various home owners and contractors were bilked out of more than $100,000.
On October 29th, Pawloski was arrested, and has since been arraigned on additional felony counts of contractor fraud, and posted $50,000 bond. State law calls for a fine of $5,000 and/or imprisonment of up to three years upon conviction of a single count of this crime.
Sparks added that his office has been in contact with neighboring police agencies in this region to see if there are any additional victims. Anyone with any information on this matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
