A trio from the MIAA regular-season co-champion Hope College men’s soccer team claimed all-region accolades from the United Soccer Coaches: defender Cole Pauly, goalkeeper Daniel Hesselbein and forward Seth Walters.
Pauly (Mundelein, Illinois / Mundelein HS) is a first-team honoree. The senior made the all-region second team as a junior.
Hesselbein (Barrington, Illinois / Barrington Community) and Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) received second-team all-region honors.
It is the 15th time in program history the Flying Dutchmen have placed three on all-region teams in the same season.
Pauly anchored Hope’s defense while logging 1,693 minutes over 20 matches. The Flying Dutchmen gave up only 13 goals en route to a 14-3-3 overall record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships.
The business major also chipped a career-high five assists and one goal. He made the All-MIAA First Team for the third consecutive season.
Hesselbein started all 20 games in goal for the Flying Dutchmen and recorded career-highs with 61 saves and a .824 save percentage.
The physical and health education earned all-region accolades for the first time. He also claimed All-MIAA honors as a first-team selection.
Walters scored a career-high 12 goals while starting 20 matches this season and received all-region distinction for the first time.
The engineering major also chipped in two assists. Walters also was an All-MIAA First Team honoree, his second all-league honor.
