HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 3, 2025) – It apparently didn’t take long for Spencer Slenk to make a positive impression with the Holland Department of Public Safety.
Just a five-year full-time veteran of the department’s Police Services unit, the Zeeland man was named last week by Public Safety Chief Matt Messer as the 2025 Police Officer of the Year. Command Staff had nominated Slenk for his positive, professional and dedicated work in the community and among his colleagues.
Besides being a road patrol officer, Slenk is also involved in field training, as well as being on the department’s Honor Guard, Tactical Team, and Recruiting Team. After joining as a cadet in 2015, he earned a full-time berth after completing the Grand Valley State University Police Academy.
