Seasonal Road Weight Restrictions to be Lifted on Monday Throughout Lakeshore

UNDATED, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 31, 2025) – One of the last chains of winter on the Lakeshore and beyond is taken off on Monday morning.

At 6 AM, seasonal weight restrictions will be lifted on all roads under jurisdiction of the Ottawa County Road Commission, as well as all state trunkline roadways south of the M-20 highway that cuts through New Era, Mount Pleasant and Midland. Aimed at protecting road integrity while frost is coming out of the ground, the restrictions, placed at the beginning of March, limited normal legal loads by around 35 percent, while truck vehicle speeds were reduced to 35 miles per hour.

Allegan County lifted its county road weight restrictions two weeks ago.
