SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 15, 2025) – The Saugatuck City Council approved several measures on Monday night.
Highlighting the biweekly business meeting for the City Council were proposed amendments to the city’s Short-Term Rental Licensing Ordinance. These changes included a mechanism to process late applications, “grandfather” in certificates or licenses that would otherwise be void due to any transfer of interest, require an annual submission concerning proof of corporate entity or trust ownership, allow transfer of ownership in limited circumstances, and allow removal or reallocation of ownership interests that doesn’t add any person or entities.
City Attorney Jacob Witte was on hand to answer any questions.

Also getting the OK from council members: Design engineering for the nearly $4.6 million Maple Street reconstruction and rehabilitation project, with Saugatuck Township sharing in some of the costs, and work to begin sometime next year; naming the Old Airport Property “Saugatuck Wilds Nature Preserve” as a late May opening of the trails on the land off of 63rd Street is slated, following work by Holland’s Outdoor Discovery Center in renovating the site; and endorsing recommendations made by the Tri-Community Wildlife Committee comprising of members from the cities of Saugatuck and Douglas, as well as Saugatuck Township.
