HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 19, 2025) – There are some changes in the Holland area’s mass transit service.
Beginning on Monday, Macatawa Area Express’ weekday fixed-route service will be on a 5 AM to 7 PM basis, with all Saturday routes suspended, including the MAX Night Owl service that had been in place from 7 PM to 12 Midnight. Reserve-A-MAX will become available to all within the Holland-Zeeland-Park Township region, only on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on vehicle availability.
The changes come following a 15-month study, which ended last August, in which addressing the need for earlier weekday service to accommodate first-shift workers emerged. The moves also stemmed from reallocating limited resources, both financially and in manpower. As efforts to recruit and train new bus operators continue, the decision to curtail Saturday and reservation services will be reassessed.
More on these changes is on the MAX Transit website.
