HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 11, 2025) – While the attention of much of Holland was centered on Tulip Time Festival fireworks over Lake Macatawa at dusk on Saturday evening, those who are sworn to protect and serve the Tulip City were still on the job dealing with issues elsewhere.
Such was the case when Holland Public Safety firefighters were called to a residence in the 500 block of Spring Lane, in a subdivision south of the West 32nd Avenue-Graafschap Road intersection, just before 7 PM. When they arrived, they found flames and heavy smoke coming out of a residential condominium unit.
Moving quickly inside, the firefighters were able to promptly bring the blaze under control, with no injuries reported by any residents or first responders. During these efforts, two cats were spotted and safely rescued, with both felines expected to make a full recovery from any injuries suffered in the incident. Two neighboring condo units suffered “sustained” damage from heat and smoke.
No immediate determination as to what led to the fire, or a dollar estimate of the damage sustained in the blaze, was made, as the incident remains under investigation.
