HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 12, 2025) – Now that Tulip Time is over, the road construction season along the Lakeshore can begin in earnest.
This year’s major tie-up is on I-196, as the bridges over the Pere Marquette Grand Rapids-Chicago rail line, just east of the Lincoln Road (M-40) junction, will be renovated, starting on Monday. The $3 million project will include substructure repairs, deck patching, epoxy overlay, joint replacement, and bearing replacement. It’s in line with renovations done in both directions of the interstate freeway from 88th Avenue, through Saugatuck, and to the Glenn area over the last few years.
Traffic in both directions will be slowed, but not diverted, through lane closures, with an estimated end date of Labor Day weekend.
