Robert Bouwman, age 88, of Holland, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Inn at Freedom Village surrounded by his loving family. Robert was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of Christ Memorial Church.
Robert was born in Holland, Michigan in 1936 to Marinus and Mildred Bouwman and graduated from Holland High School in 1954; he went on to study business at Davenport College. After graduation, he began working in the mail room at Holland Motor Express (USF Holland), where he rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Operations, a role he held for many years. During this time, he met the love of his life, Linda, and they were married in 1962. A man of strong faith, Robert found comfort and guidance in his belief. He taught us the true meaning of family, showing us the value of hard work, compassion, and kindness. He was our hero, our guide, and anchor to our family. We will cherish memories of his warm hugs, gentle laughter, and countless ways he demonstrated his love for all of us. Robert was a true gentleman, a passionate golfer, and a boater. He enjoyed the camaraderie of playing golf with his friends and found joy in the open waters of Lake Michigan. He loved spending his time at their seasonal residence in Naples, FL. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and was a true pillar of the Holland community.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Bouwman; parents, Marinus and Mildred Bouwman; parents-in-law, Wayne and Mildred Seppamaki; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Denise Bouwman, and in-laws, John and Shelia Seppamaki.
