HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 15, 2025) – The municipal spending plan for the City of Holland was finalized on Wednesday evening.
The final vote by the City Council on a $216.6 million budget for Fiscal 2026 was somewhat anti-climatic as Mayor Nathan Bocks and his colleagues were briefed on the financial blueprint last month, and the approval culminated a lengthy process in formulating the 200-plus-page proposal.
Audio PlayerAfter years of growth and expansion, it’s a time of consolidation at Holland City Hall, according to City Manager Keith Van Beek, who led the staff process in drawing up the spending plan.
Audio PlayerThe budget includes $35.7 million in general fund expenditures, and while the property tax rate of 13.8 mills that has been in place for the past 14 years will remain constant, Bocks cautions that, due to state Headlee limitations, that levy will have to increase in the near future.
