Janice Markvluwer age 90, of Holland, died Sunday, May 25, 2025 at an area care center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis, her parents, James and Marie Sturing, Infant twin sons, sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Stan Jacobs, brother, Melvin Steenwyk, brother-in-laws, Richard DeKleine and Adrian VanderVliet.
Jan was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church and current member of Maranatha Christian Reformed Church. She attended Calvin College where she earned a teaching degree. She taught 2nd grade at Zeeland Christian School and Pre-School for Community Education.
She loved spending time with her family and making memories, especially at her cottage in Ludington. She enjoyed sewing, and travel with family and friends.
Jan is survived by her children; Garry(Sheila)Markvluwer, Janna(Gary)Lauritzen, Greg(Melissa)Markvluwer, Jackie(Chris)Viening; Grandchildren, Kyle(Abby)Teasley, Matt(Emily)Teasley, Leah(Antoine)Draper, Tyler(Josephine Strauss)Markvluwer, Josiah(Caroline)Markvluwer, Elizabeth(Anthony)DeWitte, Eli Markvluwer, Peter Markvluwer, Andrew(Chelsea)Funckes, Nathan Funckes, Nicole(Camden)Andringa, Anna Funckes; great grandchildren, Joseph Teasley, Leilany Teasley, Max Teasley, Mya Teasley, Lizzy Teasley, Ramses Draper, Raelle Draper, Tauryn Draper, James Markvluwer; sister, Rose Vander Vliet; sister-in-law, Joyce Steenwyk; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland with Pastor Dan Walcott officiating. Burial will be in Graafchap Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Lakeshore Pregnancy Positive Options and Meals on Wheels Western Michigan.
