An avid outdoorsman, he found peace up north in the woods and joy in the hunt. Whether tracking deer or simply walking through the woods, nature was his sanctuary. Jim loved his country and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a transportation specialist.
A lifelong learner and doer, he even ran a marathon in his younger years, always striving to grow — physically and mentally. In recent years, he fought cancer with quiet determination, holding on to be there for his beloved wife, Linda, for her return from rehab. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
He retired from Donnelly Mirrors after 37 years in quality control, where his engineer’s mind and creative spirit thrived. He proudly patented a trail camera bracket and spent countless hours puttering in his basement, always working on something new.
He was a devoted husband, proud son, father, loving grandpa and great-grandpa, and a cherished brother. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the lessons he passed down.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered — especially in the stillness of the woods he loved.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Ray Glockin, and his dearly loved son, Tim.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda; his daughter, Taressa Sprick, and her husband Todd Sprick; his sister Sue and brother-in-law Ed Merz; and his sister Lauralee.
He was a proud grandfather to Cody and Kelsey Sprick, and Stephanie and Murphy Wilson, and a loving great-grandfather to their children Juliannah, Mia, Zoe, Addison & Lincoln. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fellowship Reformed Church, 2165 West Lakewood Blvd., Holland, MI 49424, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
