SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 9, 2025) – Saugatuck’s municipal budget should be formally approved on Monday evening.
After holding a public hearing on the matter in a special meeting last Wednesday, the City Council is expected to formally approve the spending plan for Fiscal 2026, which would go into effect on July 1st. It’s a nearly $7.2 million financial blueprint that includes pulling around $1.6 million from almost $7 million in reserves to balance the books, without raising the current operating levy of 10.1 mills.
Council members will also go behind closed doors to conduct an annual personnel evaluation of City Manager Ryan Cummins’ performance. He was named interim manager in February of last year when Ryan Heise resigned, and assumed the duties full-time last May.
The Saugatuck City Council meets at 6:30 PM in the second floor meeting room at Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents to the Saugatuck City Council special meeting is here.
