HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 25, 2025) – A family was displaced but escaped from a residential fire in Holland during the overnight hours of Wednesday.
Crews were dispatched shortly before 2 AM to a house off of West 32nd Street east of the Michigan Avenue/Washington Avenue junction on a report of smoke coming from that structure. Firefighters arrived to see flames coming from a second story window, and storming the house quickly, they brought the blaze under control, containing damage done to the home, and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby dwellings.
The residents of the house were able to escape the situation unharmed, thanks in part to working smoke detectors that alerted them to the danger, while crews were able to locate and safely rescue four cats and a dog. No firefighters were injured.
An initial cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately determined, nor a dollar estimate of damage caused.
