PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 10, 2025) – A 47-year-old Park Township man is in custody as Ottawa County Sheriff’s detectives are looking into a counterfeit bank check ring.
According to Captain Jake Sparks, authorities executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a residence off of State Street and 160th Avenue, arresting the unnamed suspect on an initial probation violation, although other charges could be forthcoming. There was a heavy police presence for several hours while deputies and detectives probed the scene.
The investigation into the ring began this past April, with these bogus checks passed on or cashed at businesses around the county. At least one of the checks contained banking information for an account operated by the 58th District Court.
The case remains open, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
