LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 11, 2025) – A number of individuals from the Lakeshore, or who have ties to the Lakeshore, were given gubernatorial appointments to state boards and commissions by Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday.
Former Ottawa County Administrator Al Vanderberg, who is now performing those same duties for Kent County, was tabbed for the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission.
Jeremy Burleson with the South Haven campus of Lake Michigan College, along with the president of Teamsters Local 406, David Dumond of Dorr, were chosen for the Michigan Truck Safety Commission.
Dr. Dani Meier of Saugatuck, the chief clinical officer at Mid-State Health Network, was selected to the Mental Health Diversion Council.
The appointments of Vanderberg and Meier won’t need state Senate approval, but those of Burleson and Dumond will.
