PORT SHELDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 14, 2025) – A 40-year-old man remains in the Ottawa County Jail following a tense situation in a West Olive subdivision overnight on Sunday ended with an arrest.
Members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Team joined with other deputies in responding to a call of a “domestic disturbance” in the West Olive Estates complex, off of Sheldon Street and 146th Avenue, around 1:15 AM. The suspect was reported inside of a residence brandishing a firearm, threatening an unnamed 36-year-old woman, and refused to communicate when authorities arrived. It was determined by the CRT members to “breach the residence,” and that person was taken into custody “without further incident.” There were no reports of any injuries suffered.
On Monday, Ismael Jo De Jesus was arraigned in Grand Haven District Court on felonious assault, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and domestic violence charges. Judge Craig Bunce ordered him held on $10,000 bond in the Ottawa County Jail
The incident remains under investigation.
