LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 30, 2025) – One of Holland’s most notable exports is getting a financial boost from Lansing.
On Tuesday, the Michigan Strategic Fund Board approved a $700,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant to Hudsonville Ice Cream, along with a 15-year, 100 percent SESA exemption, valued at nearly $600,000, for a $26.5 million investment for renovating the existing dairy production room, creating a new novelty bar production line, purchase new machinery and equipment, and make other improvements to its facility off of East 48th Street. This comes on top of a $1 million MBDP grant three years ago for other expansion plans.
Hudsonville Ice Cream is sinking over $40 million dollars into this new initiative, creating 44 or more jobs.
In addition, the Strategic Fund Board also awarded Match on Main program grants of $25,000 to Lunabode in Allegan, Fortino’s store in Grand Haven, Happy Hang Cafe in Plainwell, and Acqua in Vino in Wayland, while Leaping Panda Hobbies in Hudsonville is getting just over $21,000.
