PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 5, 2025) – Authorities were not about to take any chances on a Monday evening report of a person falling into the waters of the Holland Channel.
Someone had contacted Ottawa County Central Dispatch around 5:30 PM, saying that he saw someone on the rocks near the pier wall, but that person didn’t return to the pier walkway, and expressed concerns that the person may have fallen into the water. Members of the Sheriff’s Office marine patrol and dive team, along with crews from the US Coast Guard, Holland Department of Public Safety, and Park Township Fire Department, were deployed in the search for that person, but there was no discovery before nightfall. In addition, there were no other reports of any missing persons from the Holland State Park or the nearby beach area.
It wasn’t immediately disclosed if this search would resume after daybreak on Tuesday.
