OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 6, 2025) – Ottawa County government may have to dip into financial reserves to operate on a balanced budget for Fiscal 2026.
On Tuesday, Interim Administrator Gary Rosema, flanked by Fiscal Service Director Karen Karasinski, presented a $305.3 million-dollar spending plan to the county board.
It allows for $2.9 million from reserves to balance the books. Rosema and Karasinski also presented a capital improvement plan that takes into account the relative aging of county buildings and the need for some potential renovations.
Ottawa County Commissioners will discuss these financial blueprints during its August 26th business meeting, hold a public hearing on September 2nd, and take a final vote on September 23rd. The county’s fiscal year begins on October 1st.
